Wow, what a place to visit. We were accompanied by Magda, a tour guide from 'Hello Krakow' and she gave the most insightful tour to what happened, the history of Hero's Square. This led me to the pharmacy and buying a book, wanting to know more.
Ghetto Heroes Square is one of the most powerful and symbolic places in Kraków, dedicated to the memory of the Jewish community of the Podgórze Ghetto during World War II. The square is defined by its minimalist design, where rows of empty metal chairs create a striking and emotional visual impact. The open space invites reflection rather than movement, encouraging visitors to slow down and engage with the historical meaning of the site. Its sober atmosphere contrasts sharply with the surrounding modern city, reinforcing the weight of what this place represents. A meaningful and thoughtfully designed memorial that leaves a lasting impression and plays an essential role in understanding Kraków’s history.
