Kawa z findźanu is the best served in proper brass dallah. Muddy coffee with cardamon and brown sugar is always worth the visit. The library-like setting stocked with books but more super cozy, a platform reading lounging area with oriental rugs, pillows, plants and window light, a mix of music playing in the background. I’ve had varying results with food. Baklava is always good especially with coffee or tea. Rye bread toast served with Dijon mustard, red onions, pickles, scallions and salted herring would have been excellent with fresh bread instead of stale dried out bread that would surprise me if it was toasted.
Something changed recently (maybe owners?) and there's a new menu, from which mezze has completely gone. Now onto specifics. Hummus shouldn't be called that, it's a chickpea paste with no flavor, could taste some garlic but no tahini, bread served alongside it was inedible. Shakshuka is very pricey (42pln) for three bland eggs in tomato sauce, no flavour as you would expect from this dish, halka that is served with it was stale and dried out. The positives? Coffe and syrniczki (small and thicker cottage cheese pancakes). Overall prices have gone up, menu got cut and quality went down. Used to be quite a regular spot for an afternoon tea with a chat and a bite to eat but no more. That was my last visit unless something changes again.
I didn’t really enjoy the place. The tea was bitter, the staff seemed unhappy, though the baklava was tasty. Before I even finished my first cup, we were told to leave because they were closing. (Wouldn’t it make more sense to let customers know upon ordering that the place is closing in 10 minutes, so they can decide whether to stay or not?)
Had a Finjan coffee and a sesame bread. The service was really good and the guy working there was very attentive and friendly. The coffee and bread were very good too. The atmosphere was very quiet but that was a nice thing to get away from walking round the city amongst the crowd.
When I entered the restaurant, there were no customers and the atmosphere was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was calming, which helped to ease my slightly depressed mood after visiting Auschwitz and the Schindler Museum. The mulled wine I had with my meal was also excellent. I wish they would attract more customers, but I also hope that this atmosphere will continue for a long time.
